Jamesburg

The Borough of Jamesburg is nestled within the boundaries of Monroe Township, and shares that municipalities services. Rather small and quaint, it still has a flavor of its own and a boasts a town center lined with shops serving residents and visitors from neighboring townships.

Homes in Jamesburg reflect the suburban-rural nature of the borough. Many older homes have been renovated and feature the charm of yesteryear with upgraded amenities. Developments of newer townhouses in the southern section offer quiet living among families and young professionals.

Driving through Jamesburg on Route 522 presents a visitor with the heart of the town: railroad tracks that are almost a decorative divider along a stretch of shops that feature Mendoker’s Bakery, a pastry heaven known far and wide for its delicious fare. An adjacent lake only adds to the serene setting for a town that looks like it took its time leaving the peace of the last century.

Jamesburg residents have an array of shopping choices available in the nearby townships of South Brunswick, West Windsor and East Brunswick. Children attend Monroe schools and that municipality’s high school.

Commuting to New York or points north and south in New Jersey is made easy by the New Jersey Turnpike entrance in Monroe and the bus park-and-ride just across Route 130.
